France-what? Francesinha!

If you find yourself in Aveiro, Portugal, don’t leave without going to ZigZag cafe for a very filling (!) francesinha. 🙂

In case you have never heard about it – or perhaps you have, but wondered what the bleep it is – read on.

Francesinha is the Portuguese version of kebab/shawerma, though a very different one.

It is made with a croque monsieur as a base, filled with meat and covered with a fried egg and melted cheese, with a special francesinha sauce all over it.

And at ZigZag they know how to make a good sauce. Which is crucial for a good fransesinha, and can make it or break it!
